Respect of Your Peers

Respect of Your Peers Sorry to those avid blog readers who have been waiting for my next blog instalment. It’s been a busy wee start to the year; I can’t believe we’re almost half the way through the year! This is going to be a two part blog. Firstly I’d like to set the scene. For those of you who know me, you’ll know that I am a slightly different person with a microphone in my hand and top tunes playing. Entertaining is my passion, the thrill of interacting with guests at a wedding and seeing people let go of their inhibitions on the dance floor is For all the Facebookers out there, you may have seen that I came runner-up in Scottish wedding entertainer of the year. Although it’s humbling to have been nominated and made as far, I never got into the industry for...

All Day Wedding DJ A very belated Happy New Year to everyone! After a crazy December, which was mixture of Weddings & Christmas Party Nights, we’re off to a flying start in 2013. I wanted to use the first blog of 2013 to discuss our full day wedding option. It’s something we’ve kept fairly quiet, until now. The all day package includes: Me (Stephen) hosting & coordinating your big day Ceremony music Radio mic for speeches Specially selected music during the meal Evening Entertainment Mood Lighting As with the evening disco / entertainment I provide, the key to a unique, fun and memorable day is pre-wedding meetings. It is vital that I get to know my clients before the big day; this will ensure the day is personal to them. I also bring the the same...

General Motors Club Motherwell – Wedding

General Motors Club Motherwell – Wedding   A few short months ago, I had the absolute pleasure of DJing for the new Mr. & Mrs. Docherty… big oooooooo from everyone at that point. As part of my work, I get to work with countless brides & grooms.  Like all my clients, I met with Carol Ann & Liam beforehand. As soon as I met them, I knew it was going to be a fantastic celebration. I’d like to think that I’m a good DJ, but having a fun loving crowd makes my job all the easier. They both had a glint in their eyes and an infectious smile. Their little daughter, Gracie, was a little bundle of energy. The wedding, as the wonderful heading would suggest, was held in the General Motors Club in sunny Holytown. I was in the night before to setup the...

Wedding Lyndhurst Hotel Johnstone

Wedding Lyndhurst Hotel Johnstone   I recently had the absolute pleasure of entertaining at the wedding of Lyndsey & Colin, which was held in the Lyndhurst Hotel Johnstone. During my pre-wedding consultation with the brand spanking new Mr. & Mrs. Sampson (big oooooooo from everyone there), they mentioned that there’d be quite a few older guests and had asked for some golden oldies, including a bit of swing. As a DJ, I love coming up with solutions for a different crowd every week. This was no exception! I started off DJing around 16 years ago, in Hospital Radio. So, the golden oldies hold a dear place in my heart. I’m delighted with the feedback Lyndsey & Colin sent over: Colin & I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the entertainment at...

Colville Park Club Motherwell Wedding

Colville Park Club Motherwell Wedding I recently had the pleasure of being in the Colville Park Club in Motherwell for a wedding. The focus of today’s blog is going to be Mood Lighting. I don’t always have the time, but I love to get before and after shots of any mood lighting jobs. Fortunately, I was there nice and early to setup, with plenty of time to take some pictures. Shown below is a picture of the club before and after the Mood Lighting was installed. You may notice the colour of the balloons and the sashes, the colour scheme was an aqua blue. For those of you who’ve been into The Colville Park Club, you’ll know that it’s a big round room. So, with the aqua Mood Lighting, it kind of looked like a big fish bowl! It’s probably not the actual name of...

Questions To Ask When Choosing Your Wedding DJ

Questions To Ask When Choosing Your Wedding DJ

Questions To Ask When Choosing Your Wedding DJ   It’s finally here, the last part of the 3 part blog, inspired by Pauline on the Blushing Brides Facebook Group. Again, just to refresh your memory, Pauline said: What you are paying for (i.e. is the DJ going to take breaks, do they expect food/drink, what other equipment can they provide – such as karaoke/mood lighting etc). I think getting to know the person whose party it is (or in the case of a surprise finding out what u can from the organiser) is a big thing. If you know what is expected of you from them then that’s half the battle. So I think meeting your DJ beforehand is a must! The first part, we spoke about the importance of meeting your DJ / Wedding Entertainer beforehand. In part two, we looked at...
